Care that listens, guides, and supports.
Thoughtful care. A collaborative approach.
Allison Douglas-Clements, DNP, PMHNP‑BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
I am a doctorally prepared, board‑certified psychiatric nurse practitioner offering gentle, grounded psychiatric support for adults. Mindful Intentions Psychiatry is a quiet, steady space where you can breathe, settle, and feel genuinely supported. My experience across a variety of healthcare settings has shaped the way I practice today: collaboratively, with clinical judgment, and with an understanding that there is more to you than a diagnosis.
I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for adults, with treatment individualized to your needs, preferences, and goals. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and being honest about what is and isn’t working. I’ll bring my clinical experience and judgment to the conversation, while also making space for your experiences, preferences, and goals.
I believe it is important to be honest when I believe a requested treatment or medication may not be safe, appropriate, or in your best interest. In those situations, I’ll explain my clinical reasoning, discuss appropriate alternatives, and work with you to determine the best path forward.
Who I Work Best With
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. I work best with adults who are looking for a thoughtful approach to their mental health care and who want to be active participants in the process even if taking that first step feels difficult.
You may be navigating anxiety, depression, changes in mood, difficulty sleeping, stress, or a season of life that simply doesn’t feel like you. Perhaps you’ve tried treatment before and are looking for a different approach, or maybe this is your first time considering psychiatric care.
What matters most isn’t having the “right” words or knowing exactly what you need. It’s a willingness to be open, ask questions, share what is and isn’t working, and work together toward meaningful change.
We may be a particularly good fit if you value shared decision-making, thoughtful prescribing, and a provider who will listen carefully to your preferences while also offering clear clinical guidance, even when that guidance may differ from what you initially had in mind.
I strive to meet you where you are. I start by understanding what has been happening, how it is affecting your life, and what you would like to be different. My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric care with thoughtful conversation, education, and collaboration. I want you to understand your treatment options, feel comfortable asking questions, and have an active voice in decisions about your care.
I also recognize that medication is only one part of mental health care. Sleep, stress, relationships, physical health, life circumstances, and patterns of coping can all influence how you feel. When appropriate, we'll consider those pieces as we develop and adjust your treatment plan.
I understand that healing is rarely a straight path. Some days bring meaningful progress, while others may feel more challenging. My role is to offer guidance, education, and support while empowering you to take an active role in your care.
